Lynn Drake featured artist for January through March 2025 at Shumei International;
Symposium January 19th
Lynn Drake will be showing her work at the Shumei Gallery in Crestone for the months of January, February, and March. A symposium with Lynn will be held on Sunday, January 19th starting at 3pm. A reception will follow. As a long-time active member of our Crestone artist community, we are using this opportunity to thank Lynn for her many contributions to the arts in Crestone.
In 1992 Lynn moved to Baca and began building a house with her husband. Almost immediately after moving Lynn met local artist Bertha Gotterup, a master in ceramics and life, and began studying clay with her. They started the Crestone Potters Guild with an amazing group of Crestone women. When Bertha retired, Lynn started “Clay Art” in downtown Crestone. It was a community space with a gallery space for members. It was here that Lynn participated in the Charter School’s mentorship program and worked with homeschooled kids and elders in the community. The business thrived for 5 years. She then felt it was time to create her personal studio, and so an addition to her house was built so that she could concentrate on her work. It was then that her work evolved from clay into glass mosaics. This show is a retrospective of Lynn’s previous clay work.
Come visit with Lynn and learn more about her work on Sunday, January 19th starting at 3pm to 5 pm. This event is free to the public, please visit www.shumeicrestone.org or call 256-5284 for more information.
